I often get asked why my skin so soft, and I respond with asking, “How often do you exfoliate your body?” Well, let me fill you in on an amazing trick!
A few years ago, I started my coconut oil kick. This involved researching and spending time learning about all of the benefits that coconut oil had to offer. I researched different ways that I could use coconut oil and how it could benefit my body. I decided to create a body scrub, but not just any body scrub! I wanted something that would exfoliate and leave my skin with a fresh and smooth sensational feeling. Nothing is better than running your hand down your body and feeling silky smooth skin.
Regular coffee grinds contain caffeine, which is a great energizing and awakening boost for your skin. Keeping that in mind, I knew I wanted to add this to my new body scrub.
***Rumor has it that coffee grinds can help with cellulite reduction, has antioxidant properties that protect you from sun damage and it assists with producing healthy skin growth!
SQUIRREL! Coffee Coconut Oil Shower Scrubs were born!
These are incredibly easy to make! You will need to store them in the freezer. I recommend storing them in a tupperware or a freezer zip lock bag. Take one or two with you to the shower and scrub away. The great thing about these is that they are fun, feel great and they exfoliate your skin! They leave your skin feeling smooth and healthy! Since they are frozen, they will take a few minutes to dissolve in the steamy shower. Not to mention, clean up is a piece of cake because you are in the shower! (hey have never clogged my shower drains.)
I know what you are thinking… “I don’t want to smell like coffee!” … well, you wont! However, they are a great way to get up and motivated in your morning shower!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 C Coconut Oil
- 1/2 C Coffee Grinds
- 1 Silicone Mold Tray

Step 1: Start by measuring out one cup of coconut oil. Add it to a medium size mixing bowl. I recommend that you warm up the oil by whipping it up by hand with a spoon and the friction should be enough to start warming it up.
Step 2: Add the coffee grinds! You can use fresh grounds OR you can recycle coffee grinds from your coffee pot. If you are recycling the grinds, ensure they are dry prior to adding to the coconut oil (Ex. Lay them out on a paper towel on your counter until they dry). Mix well.
Step 3: Pour the mixture into the silicone mold tray. Clean the edges so when the scrub cubes are hardening in the freezer, they will pop out nicely as individual cubes.
Step 4: Place the silicone mold tray in the freezer for at least one hour. Then you can pop out the scrub cubes from the silicone mold tray and freeze them for future use.

Happy showering!
Tips and Tricks:
- You can use mini cupcake tins to mold larger scrub cubes.
- You can add essential oils- a few drops of lavender would be lovely.
- This is a one to one mixture, if you do not want to freeze cubes, you can add the mixture to a mason jar or any other storage container of your choice.
